ROTTNEST FAST FERRIES CELEBRATES
THE SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF OCEAN MASTERS
Rottnest Fast Ferries is thrilled to announce the official launch of its latest addition to the fleet; Ocean Master, following a successful launch event on February 4th, 2025. The event was attended by tourism industry leaders, key stakeholders and staff, all celebrating this significant milestone for the company and the Western Australian tourism sector.
The tourism and marine industry gather to celebrate the launch of Ocean Master at Hillarys Boat Harbour.
Hon. David Michael MLA, Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport, attended the event on behalf of the Office of the Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA, Minister for Transport. Speaking at the launch, Minister Michael highlighted the importance of innovation in Western Australia's tourism sector. "To ensure Rottnest Island's tourism continues to thrive, innovations such as Ocean Master are vital in strengthening WA's tourism offerings."
Ocean Master, a 32-metre catamaran designed by Incat Crowther and built by Austal Australasia, has been purpose-built for Rottnest. With a capacity for 400 passengers, 5 crew members and spacious cargo holds, the vessel is set to revolutionise travel to the island. Ocean Master offers unparalleled comfort, with features such as expansive decks, a unique stepped deck for whale watching and advanced eco-friendly technology, ensuring an efficient and smooth journey for all passengers.
Paddy Gregg, Austal Limited CEO, said the entire Austal team was proud of Ocean Master and the successful collaboration between designer Incat Crowther and supply chain partners in Western Australia and around the world, that led to the delivery of the vessel in just 12 months. "Ocean Master is testament to the exceptional capability of Austal Australasia and our supply chain partners to deliver the highest quality commercial vessels, on time and on budget."
Although the official launch event commemorated the launch of Ocean Master, the vessel has already been in operation for the past month. Ocean Master has been working alongside their sister vessel; Harbour Master, to support Rottnest Fast Ferries' busy operations, effectively assisting with increased passenger demand. This early deployment has allowed the vessel to quickly become a key player in meeting the needs of visitors travelling to Rottnest Island.

Graeme Skeggs, Director of Sales and Commercial Partnerships for Pinnacle Travel Group, celebrates the revolutionary arrival of the vessel: "It is amazing to realise that Ocean Master is actually the first purpose-built Rottnest vessel to come into service this century-being nearly 30 years since the last. It represents an unparalleled private commitment to the success of Rottnest Island-unsurpassed by our competition."
Rottnest Fast Ferries' decision to invest in this state-of-the-art vessel demonstrates their dedication to the long-term success of Western Australia's marine and tourism industries. As the only locally owned and operated ferry company servicing Rottnest Island, this investment represents a step forward in enhancing the island's accessibility and ensuring sustainability in ferry operations.
With Ocean Master now part of the fleet, Pinnacle Travel Group is excited to continue offering exceptional travel experiences to both locals and tourists visiting one of Australia's most iconic destinations.

From regional school buses to Kimberley cruising, coach tours covering the majority of this great state, and, of course, Rottnest Island ferries and busses". Mulholland attributes the company's success to its staff members, stating "none of it is possible without our nearly 230 staff and their dedication to our shared goal of providing customers with the best possible experiences."
